Visit from Prof. Anderson, Dean of Jon M Huntsman School of Business, Utah State University

In the morning of October 20, 2016, the delegation from Jon. M. Huntsman School of Business, Utah State University visited the School of International Education, BIT. The delegation consists of Prof. Anderson, Dean, Prof. Patel, Vice Dean and Prof. Israelsen, Academic Director of China Program. Prof. Mei Wenbo, Dean of School of International Education, Prof. Jiang Zhixiang, Vice Dean, and Ms. Li Lishan of the Office of Education Affairs had warm discussions with the guests.

Dean Mei expressed his sincere welcome and appreciation to Prof. Anderson and the others for their long-standing support to the joint program. Prof. Anderson gave high recognition the School of International Education for the hard work and achievement in student education and program administration, and he thought the bachelor program in international economy is the good example for Utah State University. This year, two students won “A Pin Award” which is the highest academic award to students conferred by Utah State University, and another 119 students were chosen on the “Dean's List Letter”. Prof. Anderson felt very proud of students’ good performance and honored to be the partner of the School of International Education.

Dean Mei said, both sides has educated over a thousand graduates, and among the 528 students on campus, 39 students had successfully transferred to the main campus of Utah State University and 16 students participated in the 2016 Summer Program. The program has received good feedbacks and achieved good results. As a university in the 985 Project, BIT has been always pursuing quality.

Prof. Patel provided a detailed introduction on the reform and progress on campus development and student affairs of Utah State University, e.g. the new building of Jon M Huntsman School of Business launched in March 2016, the great increase of scholarship, placement assistance offered to students, lectures by famous people and visits to alumni enterprises, etc. Prof. Anderson also express warm welcome to the students and faculty to visit or study in Utah.

In the end, Dean Mei made a proposal to Prof. Anderson that the school extends sincere invitation to Prof. Peter Hansen, Nobel Laureate in Economy in 2013 and alumni of Utah State University, to give lecture in BIT. Prof. Anderson said that he would do his best in making this happen. Both sides wrap up the meeting in a peaceful atmosphere.
